I m learning German as a part of my curriculum. Its an interesting language. Some words look the same like they appear in English but they differ in pronunciation. Here is the a,b,c,d in German. And German is called as DEUTSCH (pronounced as : doy-tsch) in German! All our names, of course, will sound very different if we try it in Deutsch!
a ah j yoht s ess
b bay k kah t tay
c tsay l el u oo
d day m em v fow
e ay n en w vay
f eff o oh x eeks
g gay p pay y irp-se-lon
h hah q koo z tset
i ee r ehr
There is another letter in written German, ß (es-zet), pronounced like [s]. However, this letter is only used after long vowels or diphthongs, and it is not used at all in Switzerland.
All nouns take genders in Deutsch. For example, Coffee and tea take masculine genders, water is neutral. Dog is masculine whereas cat is Feminine. All days, months and seasons are masculine.
